01/15/2018 - 01/19/2018
The 4th grade class will continue studying decimals. Our emphasis will be changing common fractions to decimals and visa versa (denominators not powers of ten). We will also review comparing decimals and common fractions.
The 3rd grade class will continue to relate fractions and whole numbers as well as to find parts of a group using unit fractions. Emphasis will be on problem solving using unit fractions. The class will complete chapter 8 Review/Test.

01/08/2018 thru 01/12/2018
01/08/2018 - 01/12/2018
The 4th grade class will continue studying the relation of fractions and decimals. Our emphasis will be reading, writing, rounding decimals, as well as relating fractions, decimals, and money. The class will also refresh the process of addition, subtraction and multiplication of decimals.
The third grade class will continue to studying fractions as related to whole numbers using models of shapes and the number line. We will also refresh the process of changing an improper fraction to a mixed number and vice versa, as well as changing a fraction to higher terms.

December 4, 2017 - December 8, 2017
The 4th grade class will review addition, subtraction and simplifying fractions. The steps of multiplication and division of fractions will also be introduced. We will use the IXL Math Program to help each student be fluent in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions.
The 3rd grade class will review multiplication and division of whole numbers using 1, 2,and 3-digit multipliers also 1 and 2-digit divisors. We will use the IXL Math Program to help each student become fluent performing the above mentioned operations.

November 27, 2017 thru December 1, 2017
The 4th grade class will perform the skills of adding and subtracting proper fractions, improper fractions and mixed numerals with like and unlike denominators. Emphasis will be focused on all answers in their SIMPLEST FORM.
The 3rd grade class will continue to focus on division of whole numbers using counters and arrays. We will also continue practicing long division using divisors 2 thru 9. Emphasis will be focused on the division rules for 1 and 0.

November 13 - November 17, 2017
11/13/2017 -11/17/2017
The 4th grade class will apply the skills they have learned involving finding greatest common factors to simplify fractions. They will also use the knowledge of equivalent fractions to help them reason about the relative size of two or more fractions.
The 3rd grade class will continue practicing multiplication with 1-digit and 2-digit multipliers, as well as multiplying by the powers of ten. We will also begin relating multiplication and division facts.

November 6, 2017 - November 10, 2017
The 4th grade class will develop and understanding of fractions. They will relate a unit fraction as a part of the whole, learn and recognize the types of fractions, change an improper fraction to a mixed number / vice versa. The class will also generate equivalent fractions (higher and lower terms).
The 3rd grade class will use multiplication facts, place value, and properties to solve multi-step word problems. Their critical thinking skills will be focus on how patterns and the three fundamental operations, addition, subtraction and multiplication are related.
