December 4, 2017 - December 8, 2017

The 4th grade class will review addition, subtraction and simplifying fractions. The steps of multiplication and division of fractions will also be introduced.  We will use the IXL Math Program to help each student be fluent in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions.


The 3rd grade class will review multiplication and division of whole numbers using 1, 2,and 3-digit multipliers also 1 and 2-digit divisors. We will use the IXL Math Program to help each student become fluent performing the above mentioned operations.

The 4th grade class will perform the skills of adding and subtracting proper fractions, improper fractions and mixed numerals with like and unlike denominators. Emphasis will be focused on all answers in their SIMPLEST FORM.


The 3rd grade class will continue to focus on division of whole numbers using counters and arrays. We will also continue practicing long division using divisors 2 thru 9. Emphasis will be focused on the division rules for 1 and 0.

The 4th grade class will apply the skills they have learned involving finding greatest common factors to simplify fractions. They will also use the knowledge of equivalent fractions to help them reason about the relative size of two or more fractions.

The 3rd grade class will continue practicing multiplication with 1-digit and 2-digit multipliers, as well as multiplying by the powers of ten. We will also begin relating multiplication and division facts.

The 4th grade class will develop and understanding of fractions. They will relate a unit fraction as a part of the whole, learn and recognize the types of fractions, change an improper fraction to a mixed number / vice versa. The class will also generate equivalent fractions (higher and lower terms).

The 3rd grade class will use multiplication facts, place value, and properties to solve multi-step word problems. Their critical thinking skills will be focus on how patterns and the three fundamental operations, addition, subtraction and multiplication are related.

The 4th grade class will continue using higher order thinking skills. They will interpret what to do with remainder in division, Ignore or Round-up. The class will also review as well as solve problems using mathematical terms factors and multiples.

The 3rd grade class will continue recognizing and finding the product using the five properties of multiplication. They will use the strategy of partitioning a factor using an array to show the distributive property of multiplication. We will use grouping to demonstrate commutative and associative properties. The class will also be introduced to 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication.

The 4th grade class will analyze and solve multi-steps word problems. We will also review different methods for finding the product of two, three, and four digit numbers. The class will also have a test on the fluency of multiplication math facts 6 - 9.

The 3rd grade class will analyze and solve multi-steps word problems. We will recognize and solve problems using the five mathematical properties of multiplication. The class will also review/test multiplication math facts 3-7.

The 4th grade class will continue to factor whole numbers. They will solve for LCM and GCF by factor pairs and prime factoring. We will also review prime/composite numbers by using the divisibility test rules. Multiplication facts 6 thru 9 will be practiced throughout the week.

The 3rd grade class will complete the chapter on "Representing and Interpreting Data." We will begin the process of understanding multiplication as it relates to addition and counting equal groups. Multiplication facts 3 thru 6 drills will be practiced throughout the week.

 The 3rd grade class will continue to problem solve by organizing and Interpreting data, using frequency tables and pictographs. We will also work on analyzing word problems using the IXL Math Program. 



The 4th grade class will continue multiplication and division by the power of ten. We will also learn and recognize Prime and Composite numbers by using the Divisibility Test.

The 4th grade class will continue multiplication and division of whole numbers. Our emphasis will be on multiplying/dividing by the powers of ten and interpreting remainders.


The 3rd grade class will review methods of adding/subtracting whole numbers. Emphasis will be on solving two-step problems. We will review materials taught in chapter one. Chapter one test will be given on Wednesday 9/27/2017.

The 4th grade class will continue mastering the four fundamental operations in mathematics (whole numbers). We will also analyze and solve word problems. Wednesday we will take preliminary Math Facts Quizzes.

The 3rd grade class will continue mastering addition and subtraction of whole numbers. They will also analyze and solve word problems.  Tuesday and Wednesday we will practice taking the preliminary Math Facts Quizzes.

The 3rd and 4th grade classes will recognize and draw Line of Symmetry for two-dimensional figures. They will also describe Triangles using sides and angles.

The 5th grade class will study the relationship of the Metric System, units of length, volume, capacity and weight. We will also use the Pan Balance in determining the weight of objects.

I hope your child had a wonderful and relaxing spring break. We will now focus on the last nine weeks of this school year.
This week the 3rd and 4th grade classes will began by refreshing skills previously taught just prior of spring break. The last part of this week we will classify and construct quadrilaterals.
The 5th grade class will began recognizing and calculating the volume of different prisms.

Greetings,

The 3rd and 4th grades classes will continue to work with basics geometric facts and shapes. We will learn to classify:  pairs of lines, Triangles by lines and angles, and types of quadrilaterals. Each class will continue to work with Basic Math Facts.

The 5th grade class will solve area problems using the following geometric shapes:  triangles, rectangles, and parallelograms. We will also define and determine the base and height of those geometric shapes.

Greetings,

The third and fourth grade classes will study Basic Geometry Concepts. They will learn the properties and relations of points, lines, and plane figures. They will also learn and recognize four kinds of angles. Each day we will practice one or more Basic Operations in Mathematics.

The fifth grade class will study ordered pairs by graphing on a coordinate grid. We will review calculating the area of rectangles and non-rectangular shapes. Each day we will practice the conversion of units from the Metric System to English System or units from the English System to the Metric System.

Greetings,

The 3rd grade class will continue studying fractions as related to a group/parts of a group. We will continue  to stress the relationship of equivalent fractions ( higher and lower (reduced) terms).

The 4th grade class will continue to add and subtract fractions with like and unlike denominators. We will emphasize that all answers Must Be Reduced.


The 5th grade lessons will consist of Reading, Drawing, and Interpreting graphs/plots. We will also calculate landmarks using given data.

Greetings,

The 3rd grade class will be introduced to fractions. We will study the parts of a fraction, a fraction as part of a whole, and reading/writing fractions. The class will also recognize and determine equivalent fractions (Higher Terms). Our class will begin each day with "Refresh Your Skills on Previously Learned Math Facts."

The 4th grade class will continue to recognize and determine equivalent fractions (emphasis on reducing fractions). We will also learn the process of determining Least Common Denominators.


The 5th grade lesson will include the continuation of working with Collinear and Non-Collinear Points by drawing/measuring angles and regular polygons. We will also recognize and draw regular polygons that will create regular tessellations.
